Buchanan Elementary School kicked off Thursday morning with a visit from Riley the Reading Raccoon and members of the Tennessee Department of Education to celebrate March as Literacy Month.
During the visit, Riley visited classrooms alongside Miss Music Row 2025 Bailey Guy, members of the RCS leadership team and Board of Education. Kindergarten students showcased informational writing skills while students in first grade worked on phonics as a group.
Buchanan Elementary earned Level 5 and Reward School designations from the state Department of Education for student student performance during the 2023-2024 school year.
