A COMMITMENT TO CHOICE

School choice means giving families access to a variety of K-12 education options for their students. 

2025-2026 Choice School Open Seats - Application and Lottery process

Rutherford County Schools will offer at least 10 choice seats (zone exemptions) at all zoned schools for the 2025-2026 school year. 

Parents can begin applying for these seats, using an online application, beginning January 1, 2025, and the deadline to apply is January 31, 2025.

The seats will be decided using a random lottery process pursuant to state law. A waiting list will be created for those who are not selected in the lottery, and that waiting list will be used to distribute any additional open seats that may become available.
