Summer Practice: Summer is a great time to refresh and strengthen grade level skills. Please try to practice about 20 to 30 minutes daily.
Outgoing 4th Graders:
- Reading: Read a chapter every day. Discuss the main idea, key details, theme of each chapter. Discuss the characters, plot, problem, etc. Have them write a summary for each chapter.
- Writing: After each book they read have them write about it. Really checking for punctuation and capitalization.
Incoming 4th Graders:
- Reading: Read every day for at least 20-30 minutes. Need to be reading chapter books. Review story elements and parts of speech.
- Writing: Practice writing a paragraph. Focusing on complete sentences with correct punctuation and capitalization.
