ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm Ms. Cox, your school counselor at Buchanan Elementary. This is my first year at BES and I am so excited to get to know all of our Hornets and their families! I received a B.A. in Communications and English Literature from the University of Memphis in 2006. More recently, I earned an Ed.S. in Professional School Counseling from Middle Tennessee State University in 2022.

A little bit about me - I have lived on three different continents. My go-to way to relieve stress is to get outside. I love hiking! I have two rescue dogs - a Hound/Great Pyrenees mix named Sir Arthur Albus and a three-legged Mastiff named King George.

SERVICES

As a school counselor, I provide preventative services to students via classroom guidance lessons. These lessons are structured around academic success, career exploration, and character education topics such as friendship, kindness, and respect. 

I also provide individual counseling and small group counseling services to students, as needed. To make an appointment to see the counselor for one-on-one counseling, please use the form below. *Please note: School counselors do not provide long-term therapy services. Should these services be required, I can help connect you to an available provider in the area.

In addition to classroom guidance and counseling services, I serve as the school's ATLAS coordinator, Student Assistance Team (SAT) coordinator, and 504 coordinator. If you need assistance in any of these areas, please reach out to me.

I also plan school-wide events such as Red Ribbon Week, the Amazing Shake competition, and Career Day. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these events, please let me know!
