The Bee Binder will have assignments, weekly spelling word notes from the teacher, and color coding for daily behavior. Please check your child's BEE Binder every night and initial on the correct day on the calendar

Attendance:

  •  The school doors open at 7:00 a.m. Students are not allowed to be dropped off at school before this time.

  •  If your child is absent, please send in any doctor/dentist/excuse as a separate note in the Bee Binder.

Behavior/Clothespin Chart & Rules:

  •  In the classroom, I will monitor behavior using a Clothespin Clip Chart. Each student will be assigned a clothespin, so he/she can visually monitor his/her behavior choices. Every morning, the clothespins will be placed at the middle of the chart on “Ready to Learn.” Throughout the day, appropriate actions, attitudes, and behaviors will allow a student to “CLIP UP.” However, inappropriate actions, attitudes, and behaviors will result in a student to “CLIP DOWN.”
  •  Inappropriate actions will be recorded in the BEE Binder that will be used in the classroom.
  •  If I have any concerns regarding behavior, I will include a specific note in the Bee Binder.
  •  More detailed information about behavior will be under the link: Ms. Lacey's Discipline and Management Policy.

Birthdays:

  •  Students are NOT allowed to bring in birthday food items. Students will be recognized on the morning announcements.

Grading for 1st grade students is based on the following scale:

  •  M-Mastery: Meeting the grade level standard and consistently producing quality work independently. This indicates that a student demonstrated mastery of subject material.
  •  O- On Track: Progressing toward the standard and producing required grade level work with some teacher direction and assistance. This indicates that a student is still developing the standards needed for independent and consistent mastery.
  •  A- Approaching: Beginning to develop the standard but not yet able to produce required grade level work without teacher direction and assistance.
  •  B-Basic: Limited ability to produce the grade level standard without significant teacher support and assistance. This indicates that a student needs significant teacher support and assistance and there is a concern for the child’s performance on this standard.

Homework:

  •  It is the child’s responsibility to ensure that assignments, books, or materials are brought home when needed.
  •  Each child will write down assignments in his/her Bee Binder and place any homework pages in his/her Bee Binder
